Background of the Study
Education is a vital component of national development, and the expansion of access to quality education is crucial for fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce. Secondary education, in particular, plays a pivotal role in preparing young people for higher education or the labor market. President Bola Tinubu, upon assuming office in 2023, introduced a series of education reforms aimed at improving access to education, enhancing the quality of education, and increasing secondary school enrollment across Nigeria. These policies include the provision of scholarships, expansion of infrastructure, and the improvement of teaching quality.

Lafia North, located in Nasarawa State, is one of the areas where the impact of these policies can be assessed. The region has historically struggled with low secondary school enrollment rates, limited educational infrastructure, and high dropout rates. This study aims to examine the effects of President Bola Tinubu’s education policies on secondary school enrollment in Lafia North, exploring how these policies have addressed existing challenges and contributed to educational development in the region.
